Fairway Adventures: Exploring Golf Courses Around the World
Part Two: Lindenwood Golf Club, Canonsburg PA
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Pittsburgh, Lindenwood Golf Club stands as a sanctuary for golf enthusiasts seeking a memorable and rewarding golfing experience. For a public course, it has well-manicured fairways, a challenging course layout, and stunning surroundings, Lindenwood Golf Club offers an option for players of all skill levels. I had a few hours in the morning before taking an early afternoon flight back to Florida. A buddy of mine from Pittsburgh suggested that we get in 9 holes before leaving for the airport.
The Course
The 27-Hole course features 6,872 yards of golf from the longest tees of the Red/Blue course for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.2 and it has a slope rating of 132.
How the Course Plays
The morning that I played, it had rained all night and just stopped raining as we pulled into the parking lot. The fairways were very wet and unforgiving if you hit a fat shot. You also didn't get much roll on the ball as everything was pretty wet. However, the course was in fantastic condition considering that it had been raining for nearly two weeks before I arrived. There really wasn't much if any standing water on the course and the greens were in really good condition.
Designed by renowned golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast, Lindenwood offers a challenging and strategic layout that will put your skills to the test. The 18-hole championship course features a perfect blend of demanding par-3s, doglegs, and scenic water hazards, ensuring that golfers of all levels will find both excitement and a fair challenge.
Compared to the course that I had played the day before Southpointe Golf Club, this course layout was much easier to understand and you could tell which greens belonged to which hole. I also liked that the hole placements were not designed in a way that tried to trick you. If it appeared that there was a left to right break, then there was a left to right break. No trickery or gimmicks with the hole placements.
Location
Located just a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh, Lindenwood Golf Club provides a serene escape from the bustling city life. Unlike Southpointe which was nestled among commercial and multi-family residential buildings, Lindenwood Golf Club allows you to enjoy the nature while you escape the city for a few hours.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful getaway, a chance to improve your game, or simply an opportunity to connect with fellow golfers, Lindenwood Golf Club is a must-visit destination that will leave you with cherished memories and a longing to return. So, grab your clubs, embrace the spirit of the game, and embark on a golfing adventure at Lindenwood Golf Club.
