Top 10 Must-Have Items for a Stress-Free Travel Day

There's nothing worse that feeling disorganized on a travel day.  I like to feel put together and organized but also super cozy and comfortable. So here are my (Melissa's) top 10 must have items for our travel days.

1. Comfortable Shoes are a must and my go to travel shoes are a pair of sneakers.  This way you have on socks if you don't have TSA Pre-check or just in case you have to slip off your shoes.  I try to choose a pair that is going to work for the destination I'm traveling to and the activities we will be doing.  Ideally I like to only travel with one pair, 2 at the most.

2. Comfy pants that don't look like I'm traveling in my PJs and these pants have been my go to since I got them.  They are super comfortable, have pockets, don't show dirt or stains (if you get them in a dark color) and are all around a great pick.  I have gotten so much use out of them both at home and when traveling.  Leggings can also be a great option but I have found recently that I really enjoy traveling in these so much more.

3. A comfy sweatshirt or sweater regardless of the time of year.  Planes are either super hot or super cold so I like to layer it over something like this and then I also have something cozy to slip on in the evenings or morning even in a warm destination.

4. A cross body sling bag.  Pro tip - this doubles as organization if you're taking along a larger purse or bag but gives you something smaller to keep your phone, passport, and ID close at hand.  It's also great for going to coffee shops or walks when you are traveling so you don't have to carry your whole purse.  If you've already got 2 bags just make sure that you slip it into one of them BEFORE boarding the plane.

5. A backpack as your carry or or personal item (depending on if you're checking a bag or not). Nordance sent me one of their Siena Pro 15 Backpacks to test out.  I'm actually super picky about the bags I travel with and having enough space for my laptop, the bag I keep all my electronics and chargers in, my supplements, some toiletries, and a few snacks but I've been super impressed with this one.  I even had room for my entire toiletry bag when we traveled to Arizona recently and my huge bag of supplements, so this one is a winner in my book.  I chose the black one so that it wouldn't show dirt but I like the modern style of this bag and the expandable water bottle pocket is pretty genius.

6. My portable charger is also a must.  I know you can charge your devices on the planes sometimes but it's never a guarantee that it will work so I like having my own.  This Anker Magnetic Portable Charger has been a gamechanger for me since you don't have to worry about a cord (it does also work with one too!)

7 & 8. Airpods + Airfly - Scott has had an Airfly for awhile now and sung its praises.  We even gave one to his brother as a birthday gift and he loved it too.  I don't know why I held out on this one so long but when I noticed the price of them had come down, I actually had Scott order me one while we were in Arizona and we had it delivered to an Amazon Box location near our hotel so I would have it for the trip back home.  100% recommend.

9. Speaking of bags I put in my backpack is one that organizes all my charging cords, my layflat charger for the hotel, my airpods and airfly, my kindle, my wallet with extra credit cards and some cash, memory cards if I'm bringing along my camera, etc. This is a must for me especially if I end up in the bulkhead, I'll grab this and keep it tucked beside me.

10.  Finally, a hat. IYKYK.

What did I forget? What else do you have to have with you on travel days?
