Fairway Adventures: Exploring Golf Courses Around the World
Part Three: New Albany Country Club, New Albany OH
A Memorable Day as a Guest at New Albany Country Club
I recently had the pleasure of playing golf as a guest at the New Albany Country Club located in New Albany, Ohio, and I must say that it was an exceptional golfing experience. Although, summer arrived in Florida a couple of months ago, the Columbus Ohio area is just recently coming into warmer weather. But the conditions on this course were phenomenal.
The Course
The course itself is a true gem. 27 Holes designed by the renowned golf course architect Jack Nicklaus, it offers a challenging yet enjoyable round for golfers of all skill levels. The layout is meticulously maintained, with perfectly manicured fairways, pristine greens, and stunning landscaping throughout. The attention to detail is evident, and it truly enhances the overall playing experience.
The course offers a good mix of open and tree-lined fairways, along with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that demand accuracy and precision. The design rewards smart play and rewards players who can navigate the course strategically. Since this was my first time playing this course, I will let you guess how strategic I was in navigating the course.
This par 72 course plays 6,332 yards from the tips with a course rating of 70.5 and slope of 119.
Another notable aspect is the overall course condition. The fairways are lush and well-maintained, providing a consistent playing surface. The greens are fast and true, offering a fair test of putting skills.
Experience
The experience of playing this magnificent course terrific from the point that you drive up to the bag drop until you are enjoying the 19th hole in what feels like a very traditional country club clubhouse. Many of the members use the clubhouse as their private oasis as they tell stories about rounds they have played out on this course. This is a private course and you must be accompanied by a member to be able to play. The only negative of the round was that I hit my approach shot onto the fringe of a hole and as I was about to chip onto the green, a greenskeeper drove up and walked onto the green and started testing the moisture of the green right in the middle of my shot. Other than that, everything about this round was terrific and I would definitely love to play here again.
Summary
Overall, I would highly recommend the New Albany Country Club to any golfer seeking a memorable and enjoyable round of golf. You'll just need to find a member, to invite you as a guest. The combination of a well-designed course, impeccable course conditions, and exceptional facilities make it a true standout among golf clubs in the area.
